About
Our mission is to offer homes to children who have been orphaned by the drug epidemic in Appalachia. Many of the children in our region are underserved or untouched by social services as family and extended family of the victims from drugs refuse to allow placement. The result is grandmothers and great grandmothers trying to raise these children without sufficient resources. SWYR of Appalachia will offer these families an alternative to court placement in a Christian, ranch setting.
Each home at the Ranch will house up to eight children and be hosted by a mother and father as house parents. The families will have the opportunity to raise gardens, care for livestock, and experience a life more closely connected to each other and the environment. The children will have learn life skills by helping with farm chores while attending church and school regularly.
The ultimate goal of SWYR is to provide a permanent, loving, and stable home until he or she is 18.
The Ranch is under the direction of a Board of Directors and an Executive Director, who will oversee the daily business. We are committed to accumulate no debt nor government subsidies as we accomplish this mission. Thus, funding for the Ranch comes from a core group of local churches, other charities, local individuals and other caring folks - just like you.
